Peacock Salt: White Rock Salt for Gritting and De-Icing

Our white rock salt from Peacock Salt is the cleaner and more efficient choice for professional winter maintenance. It is produced by evaporating seawater which creates a purer product with fewer impurities than brown grit. This means it melts ice quickly and does not leave stains or muddy residue. It is the same salt we use in our 24/7 gritting services across Yorkshire.

Peacock Salt white rock salt is perfect for schools, hospitals, retail parks, offices, and estates. It is important for both safety and appearance. It gives a bright, clean finish that keeps public areas looking tidy while providing reliable de-icing performance.

Every bag meets BS3247:2011 standards for de-icing salt. The uniform granule size allows for accurate application and stops clogging. This makes it good for large car parks, footpaths, and entrances. Purchase your Rock Salt Hand Scoop here.

Many of our customers prefer white rock salt. It needs less cleaning after use and keeps busy areas looking professional. It is also less likely to be carried indoors on shoes or tyres, helping to reduce maintenance inside buildings.

Whether you manage a school, business park, or retail site, Bawcro provides dependable supply and support throughout the winter. Our experienced team monitors weather forecasts and road surface temperatures to help customers stay ahead of the frost.

If you are looking for a high-quality, low-mess alternative to brown grit, Bawcro White Rock Salt is the perfect choice. It combines performance, appearance and convenience to keep your site safe, clean and accessible all season long.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between white rock salt and brown rock salt?

White rock salt is refined through the evaporation of seawater and contains fewer impurities. It melts ice as well as brown grit. However, it does not leave muddy residue. This makes it perfect for entrances, paths, and areas where customers are. To learn more about which salt is best for your site, read our Brown vs White Rock Salt Guide.

Is white rock salt safe for pets and plants?

Yes, when used sensibly. Avoid over-spreading near grass or flowerbeds and rinse paws if pets walk over treated areas. Our white rock salt contains no harmful additives and meets BS3247:2011 standards.

Can I use white rock salt in my gritter or spreader?

Yes. The granules are the same size and flow easily. This makes them good for both walk-behind and vehicle-mounted spreaders without clogging.

Do you offer bulk orders or pallet delivery?

Yes. We supply single 25kg bags and full bulk deliveries across Yorkshire. Free local delivery is available in BD11, BD19, WF17 and LS27, and we offer competitive rates for larger orders. We also provide Grit Bin Refills and ongoing Winter Salt Supply Contracts for facilities managers and estates teams.

When should I apply white rock salt?

Salt should be spread before frost or snow settles to prevent ice forming. For best results, reapply during prolonged freezing conditions or after heavy rain or snowfall.

Bawcro provides dependable winter assistance and property services throughout the year. This is true whether you manage a school, a business park, or a retail site. Learn more about our Pest and Environmental Control team.
